Hope Community Church - Programs & Activities
Hope Community Church - Helping One Another Prepare for Eternity
Sunday Worship
Sunday mornings at 10:00 am at our Ministry Centre at Keswick Landing.  Junior and Senior youth programs.  Our style is informal and comfortable.  Our worship music, led by Marty and Cynthia Hall, is a mix of contemporary and traditional styles.  A highlight of our worship service is always the "Give God The Glory" segment, which gives everyone an opportunity to tell what God has been doing in their lives during the past week.

Home Study Group
Our Home Group meets on Sunday evenings at 7:00 pm at the home of Jim & Lisa Tranquilla, 30 Lee Lane, Lower Queensbury.  Phone 363-2469.  This is a comfortable group of men and women who meet to study through a series of short topics geared to our lives as parents, working and retired folks.  All are welcome.  A couple examples of recent video-based studies include James MacDonald’s “Changing Your Attitudes” and “When Life Is Tough”.  This month, we're just completing the series "Without Faith .. Impossible".  Topics such as "Trusting God With Tomorrow", "What To Do About Enemies", "Trusting God With Injustice", .... children, finances, crises ....  Interested or curious?  Come and join us.

Youth Group
During the school year on Friday evenings 7:00 – 9:00 at the Ministry Centre for both junior and senior youth, led by Barb and Charlie.  Bible studies, games, movies, special projects, outings, sleep-overs … we’re trying to do all kinds of challenging things to make a difference in our youth and to help them make a difference in our community.

Hands of Hope
Each month, several of the ladies at Hope gather to prepare a special food dish or other special service item and then deliver it as a surprise gift to a family or shut-in in the community.

Women of Joy
On the first Saturday morning of each month the ladies of Hope and guests meet at the Worship Centre to hear a special guest share her story of faith.  This is a great opportunity to meet and fellowship with other ladies in our community.  Call Norma 459-8436 and check our Upcoming Events for names of speakers in the coming months.

Coat & Boot Exchange
Each Saturday in November, and again in April, the ladies of Hope operate a  clothing exchange to give away needed clothing items to folks in our community.  Lots of folks donate used and new clothing, and many others come in to find much-needed items.

Summer Suppers
Every Friday 5:00–6:30 pm during the month of July we prepare and serve supper to everyone who drops in.  Donations only, and it’s a great way to get to know folks in our community.  We did Summer Suppers for the first 3 years of our church life and this became our trademark of service to others.  We’re excited about reviving this great ministry for the Summer of 2011, so check our Calendar to find the dates and location.

World Changers
World Changers, a Christian mission sponsored by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (www.world-changers.net), challenges young people and adults to discover something about serving others in a practical way.  Barb Hoyt is the Atlantic Region World Changers coordinator.   Each year we lead a group of our youth on a World Changers project.  For the past 3 years, our projects have been in Charlottetown, PEI; this summer, instead of traveling to a World Changers project, we will be doing a project in Halifax, NS.

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child
Each year we participate in this great ministry to send Christmas boxes to needy children around the world (www.samaritanspurse.ca).  This year Norma is leading a year-long project by gathering a different gift each month; at the end of the year we’ll have a community work day to pack the boxes and to celebrate sending them off.

Love Your Community Day
Each year, on one Saturday in June, we join with other churches across the country to celebrate Love Your City.  It’s a day when we show our willingness to serve others by doing organized acts of kindness in our communities.  This will be our 7th  year as part of the Greater Fredericton Area Love Your City celebration and we’ll have lots of activities that will be fun and a blessing to others.

East Coast Baptist Association (ECBA)
We are happy to be part of the ECBA along with 22 other churches and church starts.  This year, Charlie Wright is the ECBA Moderator, a position that keeps him in close contact with our sister churches and presents special challenges and opportunities in strengthening these congregations.  As a church, we send a strong delegation to the Annual Association Meetings.

CNBC Partnerships
The Partnerships program links ECBA churches with sister Southern Baptist churches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana and other southern states.  Each year, several mission teams visit our ECBA churches to help out with a variety of projects and this year we expect to see over a dozen teams throughout the ECBA region.  In addition, we are planning to host a large group of Carpenters For Christ to work at a local Christian Summer Camp.  Also this summer, for the first time, we will see a family volunteer ministry team coming from Alberta to do a work project in PEI.

Jim Tranquilla is the Atlantic Regional Coordinator for the CNBC Partnerships program and he is actively working to enlarge the program to include more Mission groups.
